Scholarship Opportunities
Senior Music Major Scholarships
The Yorkville Music Boosters Senior Scholarship was established in 1992 and increased to $2000 in 2008. In 2022, the Boosters established a $500 runner-up scholarship in memory of graduate, Lauren Mahoney ('14) to the second place candidate. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating Yorkville High School senior and a runner-up who intends to major in music in college. These seniors must have participated in the music department during high school and have auditioned for and been accepted into a college or university majoring in music education, music performance, music theater, music production, music therapy, music composition, or music business.
The application process includes a written application, essay, interview, and audition. The auditions will be held during the Yorkville Music Boosters’ meeting in April.
The Senior Music Major Scholarship application will be available beginning in February.
Summer Camp Scholarships
Summer music scholarships are available to any student in the amount of ½ the program fee or an amount not exceeding $200 as booster funds allow. Each student is eligible to receive one scholarship per calendar year. Scholarship funds are not intended to pay for private lessons. Summer camp scholarships are intended to financially assist students that will bring back their experiences and knowledge to the Y115 Music Program. Camp applications and information about outside ensembles are available from the music directors and/or private instructors.
The Summer Camps Scholarship Application will be made available beginning in February.
Private Music Lessons Start-up Scholarship
The Yorkville Music Boosters and Yorkville Music Department are pleased to offer a "Private Music Lessons Start-up Scholarship" opportunity for students to continue their study of music with a private instructor specializing on their instrument. Students can apply for this one-time scholarship to cover 100% of the initial five private lessons up to $150. The instructor must be on the Yorkville Music approved music instructor list. It is up to you to contact and schedule the lessons with the private instructor prior to completing this application. Continuation of private music lessons is encouraged and will be at the private instructor's regular rates.
